What we collect
An account holds your email address, your display name, the languages you read, and your reading position in each text. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address, name and profile picture from Google.
Why we collect it
To keep your place in a book across devices, to show your library, and to apply the daily limits attached to your plan. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where it is stored
In a Postgres database and object storage hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, inside the European Union.
Who processes it
Paralelo runs on Fly.io (hosting, database and object storage, Frankfurt). Sign-in uses Google. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy. Errors are reported to Sentry. Analytics, only with your consent, is Google Analytics. Each of these sees only what it needs to do its job.
How long it is kept
Your account and reading positions are kept for as long as the account exists, and are erased when it is deleted. Records of payments are kept for as long as tax law requires, which in France is ten years. Analytics data expires after 14 months.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. Deleting your account removes your profile, your reading positions and your saved list. There is no button for it yet: write to privacy@paralelo.app and it will be done by hand, within a month, and you will be told when it is finished.
Cookies
A session cookie keeps you signed in and a preference cookie remembers your chosen interface language and your reading filters. Those are necessary for the site to work and are always set. Separately, and only if you accept the banner, Google Analytics is loaded and sets its own cookies so we can count visits and see which pages are read; your IP address is anonymised and nothing you read is sent with it. Nothing is loaded before you accept, declining costs you nothing, and you can change your answer at any time from the link in the footer.
